Shocking fly tipping problems on Askham Lane

Update: 1st March 2023: The flytipping and some green bags have now been removed from Askham Lane

Fly tippers have been risking fines of over £1000 by dumping material on Askham Lane over the last few days

Black bags have been dumped near a field entrance
Carpets have been dumped in a lay-by next to a “no tipping” sign!
One of the “no tipping” signs has been damaged
Volunteers have been undertaking litter picking in the area but this will not be enough to stem the current level of fly-tipping

Recently it was reported that a fly tipper had been fined £1500 for tipping on an amenity area in Foxwood.

The Council are understood now to have the ability to deploy covert surveilance cameras at fly-tipping hotspots.

The Council d are using social media to highlight possible solutions

Putting out scrap metal, hoping someone will collect it is not OK. They may not be registered, dump it and leave you liable.
