Praise for York Councils historic achievements in wildflower meadow creation

With some local authorities declaring a “no mow May” – in an attempt to encourage wildflowers and insect life – previous attempts in York to enourage biodiversity are now coming to fruition.

None more so than the sympathetic landscaping which wa s planted around the new Moor Lane/Askham Lane/A1237 roundabout when it was constructed around 20 years ago.

Wildflowers like are now well estblished on the verges and around the specially created logoon.

It is curently ablaze with cowslips. It has been held up a a paradigm for how the margins, of the planned dual carriageway on the A1237, should be designed when it is constructed on the east of fhe Ouse..
